Water Quality

The bathing water presents a fair quality level with no alterations of microbiological parameters detected. Industrial discharges (IPPC) and diffuse industrial sources are identified as important pollution pressures in the influence area. Multiple wastewater treatment facilities are located in the surrounding municipalities of Carbonia and Gonnesa.

Risks

Industrial discharges (IPPC classification: important pressure) and diffuse industrial pollution (very important pressure) are identified as risks. A modeling approach to characterize short-duration pollution events is under study.
