Water quality classification: excellent. The area is influenced by the Riu di Bacchelina watershed in a low-stability coastal plain.

Risks

Industrial discharge (IPPC) identified as very important pollution pressure. Port activities and diffuse industrial pollution identified as important and very important pressures respectively. An adequate modelling approach for short-duration pollution events is under study.
