RADAR is a bathing water area located along the coast from Rio Fiume to Pratica di Mare in the municipality of Fiumicino, in the Lazio region. The bathing area extends for 1055 metres and is classified as having elevated water quality. The area consists primarily of sandy beach with equipped beach facilities.

Location

Fiumicino municipality, Lazio region, Rome province. The bathing water extends from Rio Fiume to Pratica di Mare.

Equipped beach areas are present.

Water Quality

Water quality classification is elevated. One urban wastewater treatment plant serving more than 2000 population equivalents is active in the reference municipality. No active specific monitoring for pollutant concentration and diffusion limitation is currently in place during the bathing season. Mollusk farming is identified as a source of pollution.

Risks

Short-duration pollution events are under study regarding appropriate modelling approaches. The area is not subject to blooms of macroalgae or potentially toxic microalgae.
