This bathing area in Rimini consists of a sandy beach extending approximately 600 metres. It is located north of the Rimini Canal Port and features both free beach access and paid beach establishments. The area experiences high tourist traffic with numerous hotels and beach facilities, and maintains constant lifeguard services during the bathing season. The emerged beach and shoreline are in equilibrium, though the seabed is experiencing erosion.

Coastal marine water in a flat alluvial area with high stability. Beach width: 50–200 metres. Area extends 0.591 km².

Location

Rimini, Emilia-Romagna region, Italy. Located in the central-southern coastal area, north of the Rimini Canal Port. Coordinates: 12.5783°E, 44.0778°N.

Facilities

Six beach establishments with first aid services, toilets accessible to disabled persons, hot showers, barrier-free access, sports facilities, and food vendors.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2015–2018). Escherichia coli at 90th percentile: 73 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 112 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci at 90th percentile: 43 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 59 CFU/100 ml. No direct discharge points or watercourse outlets into the bathing water.

Risks

During intense precipitation, discharges from the Rimini Canal Port and the Marecchia River mouth, located northwest and north of the bathing area, may be activated. The presence of the canal port and river mouth outlets nearby may cause eutrophication phenomena. No cyanobacterial eutrophication events were reported during 2015–2018. Phytoplankton blooms (Raphidophyceae Fibrocapsa japonica) and macroalgal blooms were not reported during 2015–2018. Macrophytes may cause modifications to bathing enjoyment during biomass accumulation phases.
