Río Tajo at Zaorejas is a continental bathing area located in Guadalajara, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. The bathing zone is situated at San Pedro Bridge along a single-channel river course with rocky substrate composed of limestone and dolomite. The area features granite blocks on the beach and is surrounded by Mediterranean mountain river habitat with pine forests and diverse riparian vegetation. The river displays natural flow fluctuations typical of the Tajo, with caudals ranging from 3.77 to 17.09 m³/s during the bathing season.

Water

Tajo River. Single-channel, low-sinuosity river flowing over rocky substrate of limestone and dolomite. Mean annual flow 7.04 m³/s. Monthly mean flows during bathing season: June 9.92 m³/s, July 6.84 m³/s, August 5.79 m³/s, September 5.59 m³/s. Extreme flows recorded 1996–2006: maximum 17.09 m³/s (June 1998), minimum 3.77 m³/s (August 2005). Bed composed of clays, silts, sands, pebbles and blocks. Altitude 900 metres.

Location

Zaorejas, Guadalajara province, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Access from Cifuentes via the N-204 towards Sacedón, then CM-2115 towards Trillo, continuing on CM-2015 to Zaorejas. The bathing area is located at kilometre 64 near San Pedro Bridge. Parking is available.

Facilities

Parking available. Informational signs present. Waste bins and containers available. Recreational zone present. No lifeguard posts. No toilets, showers, bar, snack bar, or boat landing. Domestic animals access status not specified.

Water Quality

Water quality classified as conforming with guideline values according to bathing water standards. Fecal coliform concentrations showed a declining trend from 2002 to 2008. E. coli and intestinal enterococci monitoring conducted during 2008–2009 seasons under Royal Decree 1341/2007.
