Rybník Hluboký

Czechia River 1 - Excellent

Hluboký is an artificial reservoir used for bathing located at an elevation of 248 metres. The bathing area covers 0.08 square kilometres with a grassy and sandy shore and a sandy to muddy bottom. The beach is approximately 250 metres long. The site receives fewer than 500 visitors per day and offers accommodation in tents and cottages, a restaurant, toilets, showers, and sports facilities including a volleyball court and mini golf.

Water

Artificial reservoir. Surface area 0.08 square kilometres. Shore is grassy and sandy. Bottom is sandy to muddy. Catchment area 4.9 square kilometres (Hluboký stream and Blažek reservoir basin).

Water Quality

Water quality classified as excellent based on microbiological indicators (enterococci and Escherichia coli). Phosphorus levels exceeded regulatory limits up to twice in individual years. Cyanobacteria risks were detected, last recorded in 2011. Water transparency averaged 1.1 metres or less, indicating degraded water quality. High chlorophyll concentrations and low transparency values indicate eutrophication. No bathing bans were issued during the monitoring period, but reduced water transparency was frequently reported.

Risks

Cyanobacteria blooms linked to high phosphorus availability. Low water transparency affected by bioturbation and muddy bottom. Sources of risk include fishing operations, recreational settlement near tributary, phosphorus release from sediments under certain conditions, and nutrient input from swimmers.
