São Lourenço is a long sandy beach of great natural beauty, situated between cliffs with coarse sand. The beach has good support infrastructure for bathing.

Good support infrastructure available.

Season

June 12 to September 12 (2021 season).

Water Quality

Water quality classification based on 2020 data under Decreto-Lei 135/09 (amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). Triweekly sampling frequency. No days of bathing advisories or prohibitions due to short-term pollution events were recorded in the 2020 bathing season.

Risks

Short-term pollution risk is very low but may occur due to excessive river discharge from the Safarujo tributary during rainfall events. Such events are not expected to last more than 1-2 days. Potential for cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation is unlikely.
