Saint Jacques is a bathing beach located in the commune of Sarzeau in the Morbihan department of France, part of the Presqu'île de Rhuys community. The beach is subject to vulnerability profiling and water quality monitoring under European bathing water directives. The site experiences seasonal tourism and recreational swimming use.

Sarzeau, Morbihan department, France. Part of the Presqu'île de Rhuys peninsula.

Water Quality

Bacteriological water quality monitoring conducted for Escherichia coli and enterococci concentrations. Water classified according to EU Bathing Water Directives (1976 and 2006). Potential pollution sources identified include wastewater network overflows, stormwater discharges, and treatment plant effluent.

Risks

Potential macro-algae and phytoplankton proliferation identified. Identified pollution sources include stormwater and stream discharges, wastewater network overflows from pumping stations, treated water discharge from wastewater treatment plants, and accidental pollution sources. Hydrodynamic modelling conducted to assess pollution risk to the beach.
