Sandown beach on the south east coast of the Isle of Wight is near the centre of Sandown Bay. Flanked by the pier the sandy beach slopes gently up to a sea wall backed by the esplanade at the centre of the resort.

Risks

This bathing water could be affected by discharges from the Avenue Slipway storm overflow or from Sandown sewage treatment works storm overflow (1.2km away, off Yaverland) that occur when heavy rainfall overwhelms the sewerage system, but these outfalls are designed to ensure that bathing water compliance is not affected.
