A sandy beach at the base of a cliff located in Monte Sant'Angelo, Puglia, in the Mattinata-Manfredonia water body. The bathing water area extends over 1.611 square kilometres. The water has been classified as excellent based on monitoring data from 2017 to 2020. No short-term pollution events have been recorded in the past four years, and no algal blooms or toxic phytoplankton proliferation has been detected.

Coastal marine water body in the Mattinata-Manfredonia system. The bathing area covers 1.611 square kilometres.

Location

Monte Sant'Angelo, province of Foggia, Puglia region. The bathing water is located approximately 300 metres south of the ENICHEM Agricolt discharge point.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). No direct wastewater discharges to sea are present. The area is not characterised by algal or cyanobacterial blooms. No cases of potentially toxic algal strains have been detected in the past four years.

Risks

A petrochemical discharge from ENICHEM Manfredonia is located at the southern boundary of the bathing area and represents a potential point source of pollution. No short-term pollution events have been recorded in the past four years.
