Spiaggia del Portello sits near Rio Marina, close to the site of a former mine, with remnants of an old mining structure visible in the water. The shoreline is composed of large rocks mixed with sand and black pebbles, and entry into the water can be difficult. Access is on foot via a pedestrian path from the old mine's parking lot, or via a separate path from the Rio–Cavo road, though the latter route has no parking available.
