Spiaggia Principale is a sandy beach located on Viale del Sole in Grado, situated in a heavily urbanized coastal and lagoon area with maritime structures and urban settlements adjacent to the shore. The beach is part of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region and extends approximately 1.636 kilometers. Water quality has been classified as excellent based on monitoring data from 2015–2018, with no significant variations in quality status across those bathing seasons.

Coastal marine water body. Water body name: Fossalon - Mula di Muggia. Area: 1.636 square kilometers. Located in a coastal-lagoon environment within the tributaries of the Marano and Grado lagoons.

Location

Grado, Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Province of Gorizia. Coordinates: center at 45.674613°N, 13.410855°E. Beach extends from 45.676405°N, 13.399799°E to 45.677460°N, 13.419508°E.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference years 2015–2018 under Legislative Decree 116/08). E. coli 90th percentile: 14 CFU/100 mL; E. coli 95th percentile: 16 CFU/100 mL. Intestinal enterococci 90th percentile: 17 CFU/100 mL; intestinal enterococci 95th percentile: 25 CFU/100 mL. No cyanobacterial blooms have been reported. No cases of toxic algal proliferation have been detected. No elevated concentrations of potentially toxic species have been found.

Risks

One exceedance of water quality limits occurred in May 2018. No sustained eutrophic phenomena linked to cyanobacteria have been reported. No algal blooms or toxic species proliferation have been documented.
