Coastal marine water body with a rocky shoreline. The monitored area extends 3.919 square kilometres. The area is part of the Torre Lapillo hydrographic basin.

Location

Porto Cesareo, Lecce province, Puglia region, Italy. The bathing area is located at the southern boundary of the Porto Cesareo-Torre Colimena Marine Protected Area.

Water Quality

Excellent water quality classification for 2017–2020. No sewage treatment discharge outlets discharge urban wastewater to the sea. No river mouths or canals that could convey pollution sources to the bathing area.

Risks

No short-duration pollution events were recorded over the last four years. No cyanobacterial or algal blooms were detected. No cases of potentially toxic algal species proliferation were recorded.
