Tunxdorfer Waldsee is a gravel pit lake located in the Tunxdorf district of Papenburg. It was created through sand extraction for the construction of a large dike to protect against storm surges. The lake features a light-coloured sandy beach and is a popular swimming destination for visitors from northern Emsland.
