Viaur Au Ponton

France River 2 - Good

Le Viaur au Ponton is a bathing beach located in Laguépie on the Viaur River, an affluent of the Aveyron. The beach has historically maintained very good bacteriological water quality. Since 2019, water quality analysis has shown slight degradation, resulting in a classification change from excellent to good in 2020. A second accessible bathing beach for persons with reduced mobility was planned 100 metres downstream from the original site.

Water

The Viaur River, an affluent of the Aveyron. The Viaur originates in Vézins de Lévezou at an altitude of 1,090 metres and flows 168 kilometres through two regions: Lévezou and Ségala. The watershed has a surface area of 1,530 square kilometres. The river is characterized by severe low water periods and sustained flows in spring and winter. The upper basin includes hydroelectric lakes: Pont de Salars, Pareloup, and Bages.

Location

Laguépie, France. A second beach for disabled access is located 100 metres downstream from the main beach at Le Viaur au Ponton.

Water Quality

Water quality classification was excellent before 2019. Analysis results from 2019 and 2020 showed slight degradation, resulting in a classification change to good in 2020. E. coli and enterococci parameters were monitored between 2015 and 2020. The 95th percentile values were tracked for the beach. Water quality meets at least sufficient standards under Directive 2006/7/CE.

Risks

Identified pollution sources include collective sewerage systems, non-collective sewerage systems, and other various pollution sources.
