Water

The Vranovská přehrada is a reservoir with a surface area of 761.3 hectares. The catchment basin area is 2,216 square kilometres. Bítov Kopaninky beach is 300 metres long with a grassy shore, sandy beach with pebbles, and a gradual water entry. Vranov beach is 560 metres long with grassy shores and sandy bed.

Location

Nearest towns are Bítov and Vranov nad Dyjí in the South Moravian Region. The Bítov Kopaninky beach is managed by the municipality of Bítov (phone: +420 515 294 608) and has no dedicated operator facilities. The Vranov beach is managed by the municipality of Vranov nad Dyjí (phone: +420 515 296 312). A campsite is located approximately 2 kilometres from Bítov Kopaninky.

Facilities

Vranov beach is a paid facility with toilets, showers, restaurant, refreshment services, water slide, sports field, shop, campsite, and boat rental. Bítov Kopaninky beach has no facilities but paid services are available at a campsite approximately 2 kilometres away.

Water Quality

At Bítov Kopaninky: monitoring has not been conducted to date. At Vranov beach: microbiological contamination is excellent; overall status is satisfactory but shows a deteriorating trend with occasional weak algal blooms in recent years. Phosphorus content meets general requirements but occasional exceedances of chlorophyll-a limits have been recorded. Multiple tributary monitoring points show unfavourable status with high phosphorus concentrations, contributing to eutrophication of the reservoir.

Risks

Risk of short-term contamination during flood conditions on inflow streams. Occasional algal blooms with an upward trend, particularly in August. Multiple tributary streams discharge high phosphorus and nitrogen concentrations, promoting algal growth. High chlorophyll-a concentrations recorded at upstream monitoring points.
