Odemira municipality. Monitoring point coordinates: Longitude -8.78794°, Latitude 37.52354° (ETRS89 coordinate system).

Season

June 1st to September 30th, 2025. Monthly sampling frequency.

Water Quality

Water quality classified under Decreto-Lei nº 135/09 (amended by Decreto-Lei nº 113/2012). In the previous bathing season, bathing water was subject to pollution due to bypass from undue inflows to the wastewater treatment plant, affecting microbiological quality. Six days during the 2024 bathing season involved bathing being advised against or prohibited due to short-term pollution events.

Risks

Short-term pollution events (less than 72 hours duration) are considered unlikely or low risk. Potential microbiological pollution sources include wastewater treatment plant bypass from excessive inflows. Cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation are unlikely.
