Zeller See is a natural lake with a surface area of 4.5 km² and a maximum depth of 68 m located in Austria. The Strandbad Thumersbach bathing area is situated on the eastern shore of the lake, partially surrounded by residential areas and immediately south of the confluence of the Michlbach stream. The bathing water profile was created in 2023 in accordance with Austrian bathing water hygiene regulations.

Water Quality

Microbiological bathing water quality data from the past 5 years are documented. Monitoring is conducted by the Bezirksverwaltungsbehörde (district administrative authority). Correlations and regularities in exceedances of guide values and limit values are evaluated.

Risks

Potential sources of pollution including point sources and diffuse sources in the area of influence of the bathing water are identified and assessed. Risk of mass proliferation of cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton has been evaluated. Short-term pollution events lasting less than 72 hours are considered with management measures in place.
