Water Quality

Classification: Excellent (2008-2011). River mouths identified as pollution sources. No coastal wastewater treatment plants with active discharge lines are present in the area.

Risks

River mouth discharges present. Cyanobacterial blooms are not characteristic of the Ligurian Sea due to its preponderant oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded in the past four years.
