A pebble beach with fine calcareous and siliceous sediment located 100 metres north of the Fiumarella discharge outlet in Porto Recanati. The beach has an average slope of 3% on the emerged section and 8% on the submerged section. The distance between medium-low and high water marks is 4 metres. Astronomical tidal range is 30–50 centimetres. The surrounding area consists of urban and tourist developments.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: U (unsatisfactory). The area is served by a mixed public sewer system connected to a treatment plant. Three sewage lifting stations discharge overflow into the Fiumarella Canal. Four flood relief structures discharge overflow into the Lavanderia di Loreto ditch. Five flood relief structures discharge overflow into the Fiumarella Canal of Porto Recanati. Primary pollution source: discharge of the Fiumarella ditch, which collects urban wastewater from the industrial zone of Loreto and stormwater runoff from both Loreto and Porto Recanati territories.

Risks

Overflow discharges from sewage lifting stations and flood relief structures occur during heavy rainfall. Urban wastewater and stormwater runoff from roads are identified pollution sources.
