100 M Sud Scarico Fiumarella is a bathing beach in Porto Recanati, Marche region, classified as Category C. The beach features fine calcareous gravel with a 3% slope on the emerged portion and 8% on the submerged portion. The distance between medium-low and high water levels is 4 metres, with an astronomical tide range of 30–50 centimetres. The surrounding area consists of urban and tourist developments.

Marine bathing area in Porto Recanati, part of the Porto Recanati_Civitanova water body. The bathing zone extends 0.18388 square kilometres. The emerged beach has a 3% slope and the submerged beach has an 8% slope, with 4 metres distance between medium-low and high water levels.

Location

Porto Recanati, Macerata Province, Marche region, Italy. The beach is 40 metres wide. A bathing facility with toilets and a bar is present on the beach. Animal access is not permitted according to Municipal Regulation approved by Municipal Council decree n. 42/2018.

Water Quality

Water quality classification results: 2015 Sufficient (E. coli 95th percentile 167.3, Intestinal Enterococci 95th percentile 101.5); 2016 Sufficient (E. coli 95th percentile 99.3, Intestinal Enterococci 95th percentile 94.2); 2017 Sufficient (E. coli 95th percentile 113.8, Intestinal Enterococci 95th percentile 118.5); 2018 Good (E. coli 95th percentile 121.0, Intestinal Enterococci 95th percentile 105.1). The main pollution source is discharge from the Fiumarella stream, which collects urban wastewater from the industrial zone of Loreto and rainwater from both Loreto and Porto Recanati. Investigations conducted at various times of year, including outside the bathing season and in the absence of significant rainfall, show that waters discharged to sea from the Fiumarella stream are always contaminated with E. coli to varying degrees.

Risks

Urban wastewater discharge from the Fiumarella stream represents the primary pollution source. Three sewerage pumping stations discharge overflow into the Fiumarella Canal. Four flood relief overflow valves discharge into the Fosso della Lavanderia di Loreto. Five flood relief overflow valves discharge into the Fiumarella Canal of Porto Recanati. Activation of these overflow and pumping station discharges occurs during short-duration pollution events. No cyanobacterial proliferation events reported. No algal or phytoplankton blooms detected during the monitoring period, with no health risk alerts in the past four years.
