A beach with fine calcareous gravel situated in the Marche region, approximately 100 m south of a municipal wastewater discharge in Potenza Picena. The beach has a width of 30 m and is located about 30 m between two rocky outcrops. The submerged beach has an 8% slope, while the emerged beach has a 3% slope. The beach is not suitable for bathing.

Adriatic Sea. Beach area of 0.14598 km². The water body is Porto Recanati_Civitanova. Water distance between mean low and high tide (safe water limit): 4 m. Astronomical tide range: 30–50 cm.

Location

Potenza Picena, Macerata Province, Marche region. The competent authority is the Capitaneria di Porto at Via Trento, Civitanova Marche. The municipality office is located at Piazza Matteotti 28, Potenza Picena.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Sufficient (2015–2018). 2015: E. coli 90th percentile 491.7 CFU/100 ml, intestinal enterococci 129.2 CFU/100 ml. 2016: E. coli 343.8, enterococci 107.4. 2017: E. coli 304.9, enterococci 132.3. 2018: E. coli 279.1, enterococci 176.4. The area is served by combined public sewerage connected to a treatment plant. The municipal wastewater treatment plant demonstrates good treatment efficiency for COD, BOD, total suspended solids, and E. coli, with one exception of suspended solids exceedance in September 2007. Maximum authorized E. coli concentration: 500 CFU/100 ml.

Risks

Urban wastewater discharge located 100 m upshore. One stormwater pumping station discharge (Fosso a Mare) and one storm overflow with discharge to the Adriatic Sea are present. Rainwater runoff from road surfaces and suspended soil particles from a stream enter the bathing area.
