Marina di Priolo is a sandy beach area located 200 metres north of an ENEL discharge point in the municipality of Priolo, Sicily. The beach is characterized by easy access and a gently sloping shallow seabed. It is heavily used during the summer months, particularly by local residents. The water quality has been classified as Excellent for the reference period 2010–2015.

Coastal waters with a sandy beach and gently sloping shallow seabed. The bathing area extends 0.435 kilometres along the coast at sea level elevation.

Location

Municipality of Priolo, Province of Syracuse, Sicily. The beach is situated between the Anapo River and the San Leonardo River. Coordinates: centre at 37.1416°N, 15.2199°E. The beach extends approximately 0.435 kilometres.

Facilities

The beach is partially equipped with facilities including a lido. The competent municipal authority is the Municipality of Priolo.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (reference period 2010–2015). No bathing prohibitions in place. Urban and industrial wastewater is treated at the Priolo Consortium Treatment Plant managed by IAS, then discharged to sea via submarine pipeline. Routine monitoring is conducted by ARPA. No short-duration pollution events have been recorded.
