Coastal marine waters in the Sicilian Channel, specifically the water body designated as coastal tract number 13 of the Sicilia regional water plan. The bathing area extends 1.532 km along the coast.

Location

Menfi, province of Agrigento, Sicily, Italy. The bathing area is located 200 meters to the left of Miramare. Postal address: Comune di Menfi, 92013 (AG), Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III.

Facilities

Seasonal food and beverage service, first aid and assistance service, bathing facilities. Animals are not prohibited by official signs or ordinances.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent. The area has a treatment system with an existing wastewater collection network, though treatment plants do not conform to EU Directive 91/271/CE standards. Identified pollution sources include discharge of untreated wastewater from a central lift station overflow into the Vallone valley, with eventual discharge to the sea.

Risks

Discharge of untreated wastewater caused by accidental failure of the lift station. Temporary bathing prohibition may be imposed due to exceptional meteorological or marine weather events. No cyanobacterial, macroalgal, phytoplankton, or toxic species proliferation has been recorded.
