Water quality classification: elevated. Monitoring conducted according to EU standards. One active urban wastewater treatment plant serves the reference municipality with over 2000 population equivalents. No specific monitoring for pollutant concentration and dispersal is currently active during the bathing season.

Risks

Shellfish farming identified as a pollution source. An appropriate modelling approach for short-duration pollution events is still under study. The area is not subject to blooms of macroalgae and/or potentially toxic microalgae.
