Location

Anzio, in the province of Roma, Lazio region. The bathing area is situated 50 meters to the right of the port mole (dock) of Anzio.

Facilities

Sandy beach. Beach establishment present. Equipped areas available.

Profile prepared in March 2011, with update and review planned for 2012.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: elevated. Monitoring results based on 95th and 90th percentile parameters. Currently no specific monitoring programmes are active for measuring pollutant concentrations during the bathing season. Urban wastewater treatment: two active urban treatment plants serving over 2000 equivalent inhabitants operate in the reference municipality.

Risks

Mollusc farming identified as a potential pollution source. Adequate modelling approach for evaluating short-duration pollution events is still under study.
