A predominantly sandy beach located south of the Salinello River mouth in Giulianova, Abruzzo. The beach extends 450 meters with an average width of 90 meters, narrowing to 60 meters near the river. Sand diameter ranges from 0.06 to 0.5 millimeters. The emerged beach has a slope of 1-2 percent, while the submerged section slopes at approximately 5 percent. The northern section near the river contains pebbles. The area is developed with bathing establishments, restaurants, accommodations, pedestrian walkways, and cycling paths.

Coastal marine waters. The bathing area extends 450 meters linearly with an area of 0.450 square kilometers. The water body is classified as coastal waters with low-to-medium stability characteristic of the coastal plain.

Location

Giulianova, province of Teramo, Abruzzo region. The bathing area is located south of the Salinello River mouth. Parking and hotel-restaurants are available in the surrounding area.

Risks

The river mouth (Salinello) is identified as a pollution influence source. Short-duration pollution events are under study for appropriate modelling approach. No anomalous events have been recorded. Cyanobacterial blooms have not been observed in the marine waters of the Abruzzo area. Macroalgae and phytoplankton proliferation have not occurred, though sparse algal blooms have occasionally been observed in summer months with dinoflagellate species of low or absent toxicity.
