Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017-2020). The primary potential source of point pollution is treated wastewater discharge from a municipal treatment plant serving civil and industrial settlements, delivered to sea via an underwater outfall pipe. No short-duration pollution events were recorded in the last four years.

Risks

Treated urban wastewater discharge via submarine outfall from the Margherita di Savoia treatment plant. No algal or cyanobacterial blooms identified. No toxic algal species detected in the last four years.
