Location

Vasto, Province of Chieti, Abruzzo region. The sampling point is situated 300 metres south of the mouth of Torrente Lebba. No parking information is mentioned.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: EXCELLENT. Potential pollution sources identified include treated and untreated discharges from industrial installations and civil settlements in the industrial zone behind the sampling point. Wastewater treatment is managed by CON.I.V. treatment plant located in the Punta Penna industrial zone. Algal blooms of Ostreopsis ovata were recorded in August and September 2023. Some dinoflagellate blooms with scarce or no toxic species presence were observed in previous years. No cyanobacterial blooms have been recorded in the Abruzzo marine waters.

Risks

Algal blooms of Ostreopsis ovata occurred in August and September 2023. Animal access to the beach during the swimming season is regulated by municipal ordinance.
