Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2017–2020). No direct discharges of wastewater to sea are present. The Torrente Candelaro estuary at the southern boundary is the identified potential point source of pollution, as treatment facilities serving Manfredonia and Rignano Garganico discharge there.

Risks

During intense precipitation, increased water flow in the Torrente Candelaro could transport wastewater to sea. No cyanobacteria or algal blooms have been detected. No toxic algal species have been recorded in the past four years.
