June 14 to September 14, 2025. Sampling frequency: every 2 weeks.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified according to Decreto-Lei 135/2009 (as amended by Decreto-Lei 113/2012). No days of bathing prohibition or advisory due to short-term pollution events were recorded in the 2024 bathing season. Potential microbiological pollution sources include fecal contamination originating from tributary water lines draining into the reservoir, the Aldeia do Pontido wastewater treatment plant, or the rainwater drainage network.

Risks

Short-term pollution events are unlikely but may occur due to excessive surface flow during rainfall situations causing surface runoff and/or overflows from tributary water lines. Potential for cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and phytoplankton proliferation exists with historical records of blooms.
