Alfonso al Faro is a bathing water area located in San Felice Circeo in the Lazio region of Italy. The bathing area extends for approximately 1.2 kilometres along the coast from Torre Paola to Porto San Felice Circeo. The area is characterized by rocky structures and includes equipped beach facilities such as a beach establishment and boat moorings. The water body is classified as Category C and has been assigned an elevated quality classification.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: elevated. The bathing water is classified as Category C. Monitoring results are based on the 95th and 90th percentile values of parameters. One active urban wastewater treatment plant serving over 2000 population equivalent exists in the reference municipality. No specific monitoring activities are currently active to monitor the concentration of pollutants and limit their diffusion. Identified pollution sources include mollusk farming activities.

Risks

The area is subject to phytobentos blooms (Ostreopsis) during summer months. Short-duration pollution events are still under study regarding adequate modelling approaches.
