Allermöher See is a deep, stratified quarry lake in southeast Hamburg created through gravel and clay extraction in 1984 and 1990. The lake has a surface area of approximately 89,000 square metres with a maximum depth of 11 metres. Located in the Vier- and Marschlanden district between the residential areas of Neuallermöhe-West and Neuallermöhe-Ost, the lake is fed exclusively by groundwater and rainwater with no connection to other water systems. It is the subject of an official bathing water profile under the Hamburg Bathing Water Ordinance.

Location

Southeast Hamburg in the Vier- and Marschlanden district, Bezirk Hamburg-Bergedorf, in the Allermöhe neighbourhood. The lake lies north of the A25 motorway between the residential areas Neuallermöhe-West and Neuallermöhe-Ost. A 190-metre sandy beach is located at the north shore, serving as the main bathing area.

Water Quality

Classified as excellent bathing water quality for the period 2015–2018. Monitoring parameters: Escherichia coli 95-percentile 318.71, 90-percentile 213.09. Intestinal Enterococci 95-percentile 35.72, 90-percentile 30.53.
