Water Quality

Water quality has been monitored across bathing seasons from 2005 to 2011. Quality classification follows European directives 76/106/CEE and 2006/7/CE based on bacteriological indicators measured in CFU/100mL. Potential pollution sources include stormwater discharge outlets, wastewater system failures, animal presence on the beach, bathers, and pleasure boat discharges. Phytoplankton and macroalgae proliferation potential has been evaluated.

Risks

Risks include pollution from stormwater discharge outlets during rainfall events, defects in wastewater pumping station systems, discharge from storm drainage outlets, animals on the beach, and discharge from pleasure boats. Scenarios for weekly, monthly, and quarterly rainfall events have been modelled to assess pollution risk.
