Arrestra is a bathing water area on the Ligurian coast near Cogoleto, comprising a wide stretch of predominantly pebbly beach fed partially by the Arrestra stream and several smaller watercourses. The western side is characterized by very coarse gravel at the stream mouth. The bathing water extends 0.429 square kilometers and has been classified as excellent for water quality between 2008 and 2011.

Coastal waters. The area comprises sandy beaches fed by the Arrestra stream and minor watercourses. The western section features very coarse gravel at the stream mouth. Area extends 0.429 square kilometers.

Location

Cogoleto, Genoa Province, Liguria Region. Contact: Municipality of Cogoleto, via Rati 66, Tel 01091701. The bathing area is situated along the coast between Varazze and Arenzano.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2008–2011). Identified pollution sources include a wastewater treatment plant, a marine outfall, and the river mouth. No special monitoring measures are currently active.

Risks

Potential pollution sources include discharge from a wastewater treatment plant and the river mouth. The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacterial blooms due to oligotrophic conditions. No cases of potentially toxic algal strains have been reported.
