RUMARO is a bathing water area located in Cogoleto, Ligeria, along a wide stretch of coastline. The beach is predominantly gravelly and sandy, fed partially by the Arrestra stream and several minor watercourses. The area is classified as excellent based on water quality assessments from 2008-2011. The Ligurian Sea is not characterized by cyanobacterial blooms due to prevalent oligotrophic conditions, and no cases of potentially toxic algal strain proliferation have been recorded.

Coastal water body (Varazze - Arenzano water body). Area extends 1.102 square units. Fed by the Arrestra stream (Rio Beuca Torrente Rumaro drainage basin) and several minor watercourses.

Location

Cogoleto, Liguria, Italy. Contact: Municipality of Cogoleto via Rati 66, tel 01091701. Emergency services available via 118 (ambulance) and 115 (fire brigade).

Water Quality

Water quality classification: EXCELLENT (2008-2011). No coastal sewage treatment plants, outfalls, or Imhoff tanks are present. River mouths have been identified as pollution sources. No special measures or specific monitoring are currently active.

Risks

River mouth discharge identified as potential pollution source. Anomalous situations are managed through a modeling approach under development. The Ligurian Sea shows no cyanobacterial blooms and no toxic algal proliferation has been recorded in the past four years.
