Stream (arroyo) of the Guadalimar subcatchment within the Guadalquivir River basin. The water body has a surface area of 19.21 km² in the drainage basin with a catchment perimeter of 25.20 km. Maximum elevation in catchment: 1655 m; minimum: 780 m. Mean catchment slope: 33.8%. Environmental flow: 0.051 m³/s. Four-year return period flow: 9 m³/s. Average embalsed volume in bathing zone: 120 m³. Summer season mean flow: 558 m³/h; annual mean flow: 1872 m³/h.

Water Quality

Water quality has been classified as conforming to guide values and imperative values according to Royal Decree 734/1988 during the monitoring period 2003-2009. Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci concentrations were measured during 2008-2009 seasons, with values recorded in UFC/100 ml. Potential short-duration contamination risks identified from diffuse sources (livestock) and user-related self-contamination.

Short-duration contamination risks identified from self-contamination by bathing area users, runoff from livestock in the catchment, accidental or illegal discharges, dead animals, organic waste, and remobilization of sediments and sludge. Livestock in the area includes 17 cattle, 452 sheep, 51 goats, 18 horses, and 13 pigs.
