Brandis is a bathing lake located on the south-western edge of Brandenburg, approximately 14 km east of Jessen in the Elbe-Elster Lowlands. It is a gravel pit lake that was converted into a bathing lake in 2003. The lake is groundwater-fed with no surface inflows or outflows. It covers an area of 8.7 hectares with a maximum depth of approximately 3 metres, making it very shallow. Water transparency during the swimming season typically ranges from 0.8 to 2.5 metres.
