Badesee Rossau, Ost is an artificial groundwater lake created in 1979 by the city of Innsbruck and expanded in 1992. The lake covers an area of 2.8 hectares and exhibits water level fluctuations of several meters throughout the year depending on groundwater levels. Maximum water depth in summer ranges between 15 and 16.5 metres. The lake is located in the Ötztal valley in Tirol, Austria.

Artificial groundwater lake (Baggersee). Area: 2.8 hectares. Maximum summer depth: 15 to 16.5 metres. Water level fluctuations of several metres occur annually depending on groundwater levels.

Location

Located in the Ötztal valley in Tirol, Austria, near Innsbruck. The bathing water is managed by the Tyrolean state government and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection.

Showers and toilets available. Waste disposal facilities provided.

Water Quality

Microbiological bathing water quality data from the past 5 years are documented. Assessment includes evaluation of possible sources of pollution including point sources, diffuse sources, and surface water bodies in the catchment area that could be pollution sources.

Risks

Assessment of risks from cyanobacteria, macroalgae, and marine phytoplankton mass proliferation has been conducted. Evaluation of possible short-term pollution lasting less than 72 hours is included.
