Ebing Baggersee is an excavation lake in Bavaria used for bathing. A small campground with a kiosk is located adjacent to the lake. The water body has been classified with excellent bathing water quality as of 2025.

An excavation lake (Baggersee).

Location

The lake is located near Bamberg, accessed by traveling through Breitengüßbach toward Zapfendorf, then following the main road to the Ebing turnoff. The road crosses railway tracks before reaching the lake. Parking is available at the adjacent campground.

Facilities

Sanitary facilities are present. A small campground with kiosk is attached to the lake.

Water Quality

Current EU classification (2025): Excellent bathing water quality. Most recent bacteriological test results show no objections. Enterococci and Escherichia coli levels have ranged from <10 to 65 MPN/100 ml and <10 to 53 MPN/100 ml respectively across 2025 samples.

Risks

Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) have been identified in the water, with swimming warnings and bathing bans issued on certain dates in 2023 and 2024.
