Bellaria - Foce Uso 100m N is a sandy beach bathing area located in Bellaria Igea Marina in the Rimini province of Emilia-Romagna. The beach extends approximately 300 metres and is situated adjacent to the Bellaria Igea Marina port area to the south. It is a high-tourism zone with numerous hotels and beach establishments, with lifeguard services operating throughout the bathing season. Sand replenishment work has been undertaken in the area, and the breakwaters have been reinforced with rocky materials.

Water

Coastal marine waters in a high-stability alluvial plain. The bathing area has an extent of 0.359 km². The beach width is 50–70 metres as of 2018. The area is located near the mouth of the Uso River.

Location

Located in Bellaria Igea Marina, Rimini province, Emilia-Romagna region. The area is situated 100 metres north of the mouth of the Uso River and borders the port area of Bellaria Igea Marina to the south.

Facilities

Seven beach establishments present with first aid services, toilet facilities including disabled access, hot showers, absence of architectural barriers, food and beverage points, and sports facilities. Lifeguard service operates during the bathing season.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Good (reference years 2021–2024). Escherichia coli at 90th percentile: 209 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 341 CFU/100 ml. Intestinal enterococci at 90th percentile: 16 CFU/100 ml; at 95th percentile: 19 CFU/100 ml. No direct discharge points or watercourses emptying into the bathing water profile within the bathing area. During intense precipitation, potential discharges from the Uso River may activate, with waters reaching the sea in the immediate vicinity of the bathing water.

Risks

The mouth of the Uso River is located south of the bathing area and may cause eutrophication phenomena. During July 2022, a phytoplankton bloom event (Fibrocapsa japonica) was recorded. In the 2020–2021 and 2023 bathing seasons, no bloom events were reported. No toxic effects from phytoplankton or macroalgae were registered. No anomalous situations occurred during the 2021–2024 bathing seasons.
