Marine coastal bathing water subject to tidal influence with oceanic and climatic characteristics typical of the Loire-Brittany region.

Location

Ambon, Morbihan (56), Brittany, France. The bathing zone is delimited at Betahon beach.

Facilities

Surveillance system in place for the bathing zone. Equipment and facilities present on the beach and in proximity were inventoried.

Water Quality

Water quality assessment conducted under EU Directive 2006/7/CE. Historical water quality data was analyzed to evaluate the robustness of bathing area classification. The area is monitored for bacteriological parameters and phytoplankton proliferation potential.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include: stormwater runoff from collective sewer systems, wastewater discharge and malfunctions in sewage networks, improper sewage connections in the watershed, non-compliant autonomous wastewater treatment systems, cassette toilet disposal, presence of animals on the beach, recreational boats, bather pollution, agricultural runoff, and natural water flows.
