Coastal marine bathing area at Cromenach beach. The zone is subject to tidal influences and ocean currents typical of the Brittany coast.

Location

Ambon, Morbihan department (56), Brittany, France. The commune office is located at 3 place de la motte, 56190 Ambon.

Water Quality

Water quality monitoring has been conducted to assess the bathing water classification. Historical water quality data has been reviewed for robustness of classification. Enterococcus concentrations have been measured and correlated with tidal coefficients.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include: wastewater treatment system failures and overflows from repressurization stations, stormwater discharges, defective non-collective sanitation systems, agricultural runoff from pasturing and spreading, presence of animals on the beach, recreational boat discharge, natural watercourse flows, and potential illicit dumping of cassette toilets. Phytoplankton and macroalgae proliferation potential has been assessed.
