Burgau is a coastal bathing water located on an urban beach with intensive use in the Natural Park of Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina. The beach features golden sand on a small bay surrounded by marly cliffs and extends 100 metres along the shoreline. The beach also functions as a fishing harbour. The tidal range is 3.4–3.5 metres, with mean wave height of 1 metre and predominant wind direction from north to northwest.
