Potential pollution sources identified include the Canche estuary, upstream watershed contributions, and the Touquet agglomeration sewerage system.

Microbiological contamination risks from the Canche estuary and its upstream catchment. Phytoplankton monitoring is conducted as part of health surveillance. Shellfish microbial quality monitoring is performed. Macro-waste monitoring is undertaken.
