Location

Le Touquet-Paris-Plage commune, located on the northern coast of France in the Baie de Canche (Canche Bay) region. The Centre plage (central beach) is the designated bathing zone.

Water Quality

Water quality is classified based on bacteriological monitoring of Escherichia coli and enterococci concentrations. Daily concentration analysis was conducted from 2015 to 2021. Potential pollution sources include the Canche River estuary, upstream watershed inputs, and authorized wastewater discharges. Water quality is influenced by precipitation events, tidal coefficients, wind direction, and volume of authorized discharges.

Risks

Short-term pollution events occur, influenced by precipitation and wastewater discharges. Phytoplankton monitoring is conducted as part of health risk surveillance. Macrodebris monitoring is also undertaken.
