Municipality of Portigliola, province of Reggio Calabria, Calabria region, Italy. The area is located south of the town of Locri.

Water quality classification: Excellent. The bathing water is located within the Sant'Ilario dello Jonio - Siderno water body, monitored by the competent authorities including the Calabria Region, Municipality, ASP, Emergency Services (118), and Arpacal.

Risks

Potential pollution sources identified include the mouth of Fiumara Portigliola and Vallone Castellace. Occasional accidental sewage treatment plant failures and overflows from the Portigliola treatment facility have occurred.
