Water Quality

Bacteriological monitoring has been conducted by the regional health authority (ARS) from 2008 to 2019. Water quality is influenced by multiple pollution sources including agricultural runoff, collective wastewater treatment systems, non-collective sanitation installations, and stormwater drainage networks. Fecal bacterial contamination is linked to rainfall events, with a threshold above which contamination episodes are likely to occur.

Sensitivity to green algae blooms. Fecal bacterial contamination from agricultural sources, wastewater discharge, and stormwater runoff, particularly during high rainfall events. Jellyfish (physalies) have been observed on the coast.
