Carvalhal is a coastal bathing water on the moderately exposed mesotidal Atlantic coast with a tidal regime of 3.5 metres. The sandy beach is long and narrow, extending 120 metres along the shoreline. During the bathing season, the site experiences average rainfall of 7.9 mm, average air temperature of 21.3 °C, and prevailing northwest winds with approximately 10 hours of daily sunshine.
