Coastal bathing water on a high rocky shore with steep terrain. Physical characteristics include a submarine outfall pipeline extending from coordinates 40.6445° N, 14.6996° E to 40.6367° N, 14.7004° E.

Location

Cetara, province of Salerno, Campania. The bathing area is identified by monitoring point coordinates in the Contrada Fuenti locality.

Water Quality

Water quality classification: Excellent (2020–2023). Urban wastewater is conveyed to a settling tank located in Piazza Manfredi Nicoletti in Cetara, with final discharge via submarine pipeline.

Risks

Possible pollution sources identified: potential breaks in the submarine outfall pipeline serving the settling tank; a lift station and emergency overflow located at Via Galea/Piazzale Parcheggio; the Cetus torrent outlet on the west side; and potential reuse of a pre-existing submarine pipeline in Vietri sul Mare territory in case of lift station failures.
